Hilton Lorie Visit

Hilton Lorie came to visit us to talk about his religion - Judaism, being a Jew and Yom Kippur the holiest day of the year, which is being celebrated this week on Wednesday 12th October. He explained that Judaism has some similar values to Islam and Christianity.

Yom Kippur is the day on which Jewish people are closest to God and to the quintessence of our own souls. It is the Day of Atonement—“For on this day He will forgive you, to purify you, that you be cleansed from all your sins before G‑d” (Leviticus 16:30). On this day they will fast for the whole day and visit the synagogue to apologise for all of the not so nice things that they have done this year. He spoke about the importance of Wednesday and saying sorry for all of the bad things that you have done. To ensure that you not only mean that you are sorry to god and that you wont do it again, but also how you must apologise to the person you have been mean to as well. *Excerpt from http://www.chabad.org/
