Massive Maths with Woodlands Governors and Co-op Finance Team!
Students in Key Stage 1 and 2 have been taking part in an outdoor maths lesson ran by volunteers from the academies sponsor, the Co-operative Group.
Colleagues from the Group Finance team and a school Governor have been volunteering to deliver ‘Massive Maths’ lessons to three of the primary academies in Leeds.
Woodlands students joined in with the maths event, taking part in 5 different maths-based games and activities which had been drawn out on the playground.
The collaboration came from the Co-op’s Chief Financial Officer, Ian Ellis, who really wanted to get his whole Finance team involved in supporting the Co-operative academies in a fun but educational way.
The team of volunteers arrived at Woodlands armed with chalk, bean bags, dice, hoops and bingo cards.
Children worked their way around 5 games of; times table bingo, hoops, snake eyes, four in a row and bean bag addition.
For the first day this week the sun was (sort of) shining! The outdoor lessons proved very popular and the children had a great time testing basic number skills, explain their thinking and putting their maths knowledge to the test!
